The Society is very proud to announce its partnership with the N. C. Community Colleges Foundation to establish “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Society Student Leadership Award”. Administered through the Foundation, the award will recognize outstanding performances of Community College students in the System’s annual “Leadership Development Program” and to highlight and further the talents and skills of our state’s future leaders.
As proposed, students chosen to participate in the program will select from their peers three regional awardees representing the Eastern, Central, and Western Districts of the state, and from these, a statewide award winner will then be named who would additionally receive an honorarium to support their ongoing community college education.
The Society will assist in establishing the award criteria, the selection of the statewide awardee, funding support and other aspects of the award program.
Student Leadership Award
The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Society Student Leadership Award recognizes exceptional community college students who demonstrate ethical leadership, integrity, a strong commitment to community and service, and a positive leadership influence among their peers. This award empowers students to lead with integrity, creativity, and a healthy disregard for the impossible. Contributions will support both the recognition of outstanding student leaders and the continued development of the North Carolina Community College System Student Leadership Development Program, helping prepare the next generation of North Carolina’s leaders.
